Vice President, Sales


Let’s talk about some of the key responsibilities of the role:

  • Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), will serve as key member of the Commercial Leadership Team
  • Create the vision, strategy, and direction for the Commercial Sales team
  • Build and develop a high performing and diverse team by attracting, selecting, developing and retaining talented individuals who share the goals and vision of the organization
  • Lead the analysis, insight and direction on targeting, priorities and quarterly goals to deliver assigned sales objectives
  • Identify, build and drive a robust customer facing strategy that leads to high-value engagements with physician customers and drives revenue growth
  • Provide leadership in development of national selling strategies, achievement of total US sales forecasts and operational budgets
  • Create effective sales execution plans, targeting and tactics in collaboration with commercial teams to provide optimal financial returns
  • Development of the US Sales team which includes Field Sales and Sales Training. Responsibilities include the development of strategic operating structures, priorities, and key practitioner management and selling platforms.
  • Serve as key contributor to development of Tarsus’ roadmap by conveying sales insights, market intel, and customer feedback to R&D, operations, business development and other functional teams
  • Implement KPIs and sales metrics to shorten the sales cycle and build uniformity and efficiency into the sales process, as well as effectively and accurately forecasting sales and revenue growth
  • Contribute to content and approach for Product Marketing, building brand awareness and enabling the sales process
  • Ensure sales organization executes in a compliant and ethical manner
  • Implement ongoing process improvement, resource optimization, quality management, timeliness and accuracy of all products and services from all functional areas that support the Commercial Sales organization
  • This position will also be responsible for alignment within the commercial organization so the team is effectively partnering with internal and external organizations to drive attainment of overall business objectives

 Skills and Qualifications Required for this Dynamic Leader:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, science, or related field. A master’s degree (MBA) is strongly preferred
  • 15+ years relevant experience in healthcare/pharma, ophthalmic experience strongly preferred
  • Has led and developed a high performing commercial sales organization
  • Effective talent management, coaching, persuasion and mentoring skills
  • Established track record with evidence of excellent problem solving, collaboration, leadership and communication skills
  • Experience in optimizing ROI and driving revenue growth
  • Proven track record of working with Marketing, Commercial Operations, Market Access, Development, Medical Affairs, and other cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals and objectives
  • Demonstrated strategic leadership, experience translating a corporate vision and strategy into departmental goals and objectives; adjusting plans and tactics to meet changing departmental priorities and circumstances; utilizing market data
  • Proven strategic thinking skills with the ability to develop and refine commercial sales strategies
  • Demonstrated track record of driving patient access strategies, product distribution and commercial optimization
  • Strong commercial understanding of the pharma marketplace, and an understanding of the processes of selling and implementing disruptive tech-enabled services
  • Highly adaptable to change, able to quickly pivot and respond to new market information in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and change management skills required, in addition to ability to build strong relationships both vertically and horizontally
  • Proven ability to escalate difficult issues and make tough decisions

A Few Other Details Worth Mentioning:

  • The position will be based in our beautiful Irvine office, complete with a courtyard, table tennis, snacks and drinks, occasional catered meals, and pet-days.
  • This position will report directly to the Chief Commercial Officer
  • Given the nature of the role, significant travel will be required
